The new 68,000 square foot school is a replacement school in the Tigard-Tualatin School District. When it is completed, it will accommodate 600 students. The design incorporates 24 classrooms, a music room, gym, art room and cafeteria arranged in two classroom wings extending from the central light-filled core. In order to maximize north-south exposure, the long shallow building is oriented on an east-west axis. The school incorporates many elements of sustainable design including natural day lighting, low emitting materials, natural ventilation, reduced energy requirements, minimized onsite parking and reduced light polution.
